With the opening of the 2015 Brighton Digital Festival event submissions, the Festival is pleased to announce that we will again be reviving the Grassroots Fund Awards as part of this year’s Festival programme.
Since 2013, Brighton Digital Festival has offered grants to support independently organised events that encourage the wider community to celebrate digital arts and culture. These awards have been made possible by Arts Council England and generous support from Brighton and Hove City Council.
The Grassroots Fund Awards have helped fund a wide range of community focused events, including an alternative exploration of the Royal Pavilion, a mentoring programme and symposium for women working within digital industries, and a series of innovative workshops that engage young people in civic planning through the wonderful world of Minecraft.
In 2015 we are awarding up to ten grants to £500 to encourage community focused activity, with a particular focus on supporting activity that would be unlikely to take place without financial support. Hopeful applicants are asked to download the Grassroots Fund brief for full criteria and an overview of the selection process. Applications can be made online at the Grassroots Fund Application page, and will be open until the deadline of midnight on Sunday the 5th of July 2015.
