The Dream Factory Hangout & Collaboration Space

The social hangout at the heart of the festival. A spacious loft apartment's shared living room and kitchen for up to 30 BDF members at a time to connect, eat and innovate together!

The Brighton Digital Festival brings together a diverse group of people from the arts, sciences, business and civil society who, through our fascination with digital culture and technology are clearly a community of interest with amazing creative potential.

What new ideas and connections could we all seed if we were able to bring our knowledge, curiosity and passion into one space for one month?

Let’s meet in a central location which was not about consumption nor production but focused on mixing our passion with our play.

Welcome to The Dream Factory, a non-profit hangout and collaboration space for the Brighton Digital Festival 2013. Visit our website www.thedreamfactory.net easily network and make the positive but serendipitous connections which come from shared communal spaces.for the latest events, discussions and collaborations which have already begun.

What are the possibilities for us in a 21st century social space in a creatively expressed and networked society?

Facilities: seating space for around 30 people on well comfy sofas, chairs and carpets. Wifi and smart TV.

We are also starting the collaboration by offering open source technology for us to all play with, including how to check if you’re buddy’s already in the space and how to network information from other BDF events.

There is also a kitchen and a large kitchen table for 10 people,  so members can also eat and drink here, saving pennies and breaking bread together.
We are now opening earlier at 2pm so we can all meet for lunch as well as dinner! Find out what is going on in the festival that day.

For a fuller list of benefits and to know more about the concept and collaboration ring we ‘re starting for the festvial, check out our website www.thedreamfactory.net.

Location: Located on Vine Street in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine area, The Dream Factory will be run by and for Brighton Digital Festival event organisers and participants.

Opening Hours: The space will be open  from 2-10pm every Tuesday – Thursday evenings for the festival.
(Wed & Thurs only on last week of the festival). Times may vary depending people present. Please check our website for who is in the space.

Membership:  To get the ball rolling we’re going to be offering £10 only membership for the first 30 people who sign up.  Membership may need to increase after this number, so join up soon.

Use as Venue Space (in exchange for collaboration): The space has a capacity for 30  people at a time, we would prefer it if everyone was a member to help with the cost of the space. If you would like to host a small workshop, meeting or demonstrate your technology here, we simply ask that your guests are members and that you donate some equivalent time and expertise  to the space in return. We are big advocates of alternative currencies, let’s start with the one capital we all have to share, ourselves.
If you would like to use most of the space for your own venue, then we are open to this between 3 – 5pm during our opening hours. Contact us for details on hourly rates.

Onsite Coffee Shop: The Coffee Counter onsite coffee shop will be open early evenings to keep us in refreshments and crushed ice.

About us:  The Dream Factory is a non-profit initiative to encourage new collaborative social spaces which connect our virtual worlds and innovations with real physical spaces which are not about consumption or production but about the meeting of minds and hearts for our creative and social good.

Hi, is this going to be a permanent feature or just something for the festival?

    • Hi Stu, the purpose of the Dream Factory as part of the BDF is to inspire a permanent, cooperative, collaboration space for individuals to mentor and inspire each other. The vision is that by connecting ideas from this space to the existing coworking and hackerspaces of the City, we hope to encourage collaborative entrepreneurship and inspire a self-sufficient local economy with people living out their passion.
We’ll be using our time in the space in September to prototype the concept and invite members to come share in a common vision for its future.
