TRANSMUTE - 2014
A night of experimental performance and talks blending the digital and the visceral
On the cusp of Summer and Autumn, as the light goes into retreat, Chroma and Stillpoint invite you to a night of experimental performance, artwork, interventions, sound experiments and spoken word.
Embracing uncertainty, improvisation and transformations, TRANSMUTE gathers artists, dancers and critical thinkers working with digital technology to explore the visceral and the sensory.
What is communication in 2014? How do we grow digital technologies to deepen the ways we relate to our bodies, each other and the earth itself? How can we evolve the way we use digital tools to interface and be informed by the natural intelligence of the body and the ecosystem? & how are artists, activists and educators using the digital to create, communicate, share knowledge and organise action?
Join us in a night of digital transmutation and critical exploration. TRANSMUTE is a playful experiment to spark and provoke imaginative ways of moving through the dark nights ahead.
The event is organised by artists Rachel Blackman, Kate Genevieve and Louis D’Aboville as part of a creative collaboration between CHROMA and Stillpoint investigating hacking technologies to communicate sensory experience: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/feelingsensing We are opening this research up to the public on the last weekend of the Digital Festival and welcome other voices and perspectives. If your work investigates the dialogue between the visceral and digital, explores sensory environments, emotion and affective realms, or raises questions around what communication is and how it can evolve, get in touch at [email protected]
