Each month, Design Brighton hosts an event which sees people from all creative disciplines coming together to connect, inspire and create. For September, Design Brighton is holding a very special event indeed for the Brighton Digital Festival – with a stellar line up of three great speakers from the digital industry. ‘Talking Digital’ at The Old Market on Monday 16th September will be a fantastic opportunity to gain a real insight into the work of three exciting design studios…

Denise Wilton, Creative Director of BERG will be talking about their consultancy work with companies – thinking innovatively to create technological and strategic opportunities in networks and physical objects. With work spanning across the realms of 3D and virtual product design and with a client list featuring the BBC, Absolut and the Guardian, BERG were included on the Fast Company list of 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2012. Their playful and elegant approach to design is also inclusive for all – as demonstrated with their BERG Cloud platform for connected products and technologies.

The 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies were set alight by the fantastic visuals that flowed around the inside of the stadium, and Ed Cookson, Project Director at Crystal London will be talking about their ‘Audience Pixels’ project that was broadcast to the world. The 70,500 separate paddles which were located within the seating areas each featured 9 high powered LED lights and allowed the spectators to feel completely immersed in the experience whilst the narrative travelled outside of the main central performance space. A feat of programming and special effects, ‘Audience Pixels’ digitally defined the expansive feel of the Ceremonies.

Lastly, Matt Rice, Creative Director of Sennep will be talking about how they bring a human touch to the digital world through their expertise in interaction design, games, installations and apps. With an approach to creativity that is founded in the ‘memorable, beautiful and useful’ the work of Sennep has a very traditionally crafted feel, which results in a personal ‘bespoke charm’. Another playful studio, Sennep often undertake experimental self initiated projects within the realms of varied interface design which in turn informs the award winning work they create for their clients.

Three fantastic speakers – all together – for one night only.
