Brighton Digital Festival 2013 » Tom Bailey https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk Celebrating Digital Culture Sun, 29 Sep 2013 13:55:20 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.5.2 BDF2013 ANIMATED STING READY FOR DOWNLOAD https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/bdf2013-animated-sting-ready-for-download/ https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/bdf2013-animated-sting-ready-for-download/#comments Wed, 07 Aug 2013 15:41:20 +0000 Tom Bailey https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/?p=1998 One of the biggest challenges for Brighton Digital Festival is raising awareness of all the fantastic things which happen in September, on what can only be described as a modest marketing budget. So when the clever folk at Persistent Peril offered to make an animated sting as their offer to this years festival, we were absolutely thrilled. Drawing on the new logo designed by Bryan Kidd, they’ve produced a lovely animation which we think will really help get BDF into peoples consciousness, and drive them to the festival website and the event programme.

A huge BDF thank you guys !

The challenge now is to get this out there, and I’d urge anyone with fixed screens, projection as part of their events, film screenings and ANY screen access to please download a copy of the sting, and use it in the lead up and throughout September. The download links (along with some other marketing bits and bobs) can be found on the Organisers Page.

For our part, we’re thrilled to announce that the sting will be shown throughout the day on the big screen on the side of Community Base on Queens Road from 20th August to 8th Sept, which has been made possible by the generous support of Maxx Media who operate the screen. Look out for it!

If you want to see more of what Persistent Peril do in person, they are  taking part in the CDIT Open Studio programme. Full details and dates will be announced w/b 12th August so check back then and track #BDFopenstudios for more info.

Please get in touch if you need help with the video file via: [email protected].

Here’s to spreading the word….

BDF design assets & printing discount https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/bdf-design-assets-printing-discount/ https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/bdf-design-assets-printing-discount/#comments Tue, 09 Jul 2013 13:23:24 +0000 Tom Bailey https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/?p=862 When the logo and look of Brighton Digital Festival was overhauled earlier this year, one of the main objectives was to create a more open and accessible looking presence. This was in-line with our overall aims of attracting and inviting a larger and more diverse audience to check out the fantastic things which happen throughout September.

…it seems a natural extension to make some of those design assets available to event organisers, who might want to draw on them for the marketing and promotional material for their own events.

Quote Abstract

In keeping with the community-led ethos of the festival, designer Bryan Kidd opened up the process through both the research and the design process itself, which he presented at a town hall meeting in May, and on his BLOG.

Now that September is fast approaching and event planning is well underway, it seems a natural extension to make some of those design assets available to event organisers, who might want to draw on them for the marketing and promotional material for their own events.

Of course, for many organisers this won’t be relevant or appropriate for their event. No worries.

However the hope is that, for some, it may offer a useful set of materials which can be used as a starting point for their own event marketing.  We also hope that it might mean more materials out there with a coherent visual identity (alongside the Festival Guide, video sting, website, posters etc), which will  contribute to the overall level of awareness of the festival across the City – which is a benefit to everyone.

If You Make It, They Will Come https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/if-you-make-it-they-will-come/ https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/if-you-make-it-they-will-come/#comments Tue, 21 May 2013 16:41:13 +0000 Tom Bailey https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/?p=107 Calling Makers of All Varieties to Brighton Mini Maker Faire 2013

Yes, it’s that time of year again: The third annual Brighton Mini Maker Faire is on the horizon and we’re on the lookout for makers of every sort to help us create an even more mind-blowingly eclectic, enlightening and awe-inspiring event. If you think this could be you, read on…

Last year over 7,000 people of all ages came to Brighton’s Corn Exchange to experience a vast range of makers showing off their skills and projects, at one of the biggest Maker Faires in the country. You can read more about exactly what happened by listening to last year’s live podcasts or watching the official video.

Because it was so popular, we’ve decided to extend the event over two days this year, and will be running even more in-depth workshops and talks, so that our visitors can get more involved, learn more skills and have an even more memorable and rewarding time.

We’re looking for Makers, Educational Facilitators and other volunteers for this year’s event on 7th & 8th September.
Quote Abstract

Hello world, as they say https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/hello-world/ https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/hello-world/#comments Tue, 16 Apr 2013 08:53:31 +0000 Tom Bailey https://brightondigitalfestival.co.uk/?p=1 Hello, this is a very quick post to launch the new BLOG function on the Brighton Digital Festival 2013 website.

This release marks the start of a series of updates for the site as we move towards the festival in September. Over this time the site will transform from a resource focused on BDF organisers, to a full programme listing for everyone wondering what’s happening over the jam-packed festival month.

Our hope is that this blog will serve as an open method of communication across the festivals audiences and organisers, and it is VERY MUCH open to a selection of posts and authors.

If you have a blog post  you’d like to make via this blog please get in touch: [email protected]
