Brighton has been attacked several times in the past:
In 1514 - A fleet of French raiders attacked the village of 'Brighthelmstone' (The original name of Brighton), burning almost every building to the ground
In 1963 - Brighton was invaded by parking meters
In 1964 - The Mods and Rockers invaded the city and fights lasted 2 days
In 1984 - The Grand Hotel was bombed by the IRA
In 2003 - The West Pier was destroyed by fire
Now in 2018 the City is under imminent threat of attack by giant snails and this could have dire consequences for the city. However The Artful Bodgers, an art duo from Brighton are making urgent preparations to defend Brighton and will be mounting an orchestrated counter invasion of giant Gastropods that will banish the snails and restore visual harmony for all time.
The Gastropods are currently being readied for artistic action in a secret production centre hidden deep underground but will be unveiled in a Private View at 8pm on Friday 14th September 2018, at The Constantinople Cafe and Bistro, 51 Norfolk Square, Brighton, BN1 2PA (Tel 01273 777355).
Booking is essential if you wish to enjoy a dinner and briefing that will accompany the unveiling of the Gastropods and address any concerns that you might have for the safety of the city - or you may visit the venue any other day until 12th October 2018.
Documentation of all ongoing artistic operations will be displayed at The Constantinople, as events unfold, throughout the Digital Festival.
