ARTIST TALK: William Latham
Join us at Phoenix Brighton on 11th September 2013 for a free talk by pioneering computer artist William Latham who will discuss his current "Mutator 1+2: Evolutionary Art" and the ideas and technologies behind this flagship Phoenix Brighton exhibition.
William Latham is well known for his pioneering computer based work, and this talk offers an insight into the creative processes behind his artwork. Latham trained as an artist at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Royal College of Art and was later a Research Fellow at IBM from 1987 – 93, spent fifteen years in computer games development, and since 2007 has been Professor of Computer Art and Games at Goldsmiths, University of London. His work has been shown in numerous international touring exhibitions, and the current exhibition at Phoenix Brighton spans his artistic career from the early ‘80s to the present day.
Phoenix Brighton is the largest artist led organisation in the South East of England (outside London). It provides studios for over 100 artists, runs a major arts education programme across digital, fine art, photography, craft and performance, and is one of the leading art galleries in the city.
