Exploring Senses and BYC present 'B.fest: Young Inventors Centre Live’ digital event for young people aged 13-19yrs. Expect live music and coding, 3D printing & 3D scanning workshops, film, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality experiences, interactive puppet animations & robotics, electronic instruments making workshops, and more!
Local people, artists and technologists will provide you with a variety of state of the art digital and analog experiences including;
Our Dream City – a continuation of the Young Inventors Centre cardboard city construction chaos, as experienced recently by many who visited this years Brighton Mini Maker Faire. Expect more of the same, but with a high tech twist! It’s your chance to make our futuristic dream sci-fi city. Will we live in a city of dreams, an Eco-sustainable bubble, or urban dystopian jungle, with a subterranean subculture? The choice is yours……….
You have experienced low-tech city, its time to get digital………Minecraft is a global phenomenon with gamers of all ages uniting, there is no denying it is here to stay for the foreseeable future, if you like Lego, the chances are you will enjoy Minecraft. Local Minecraft artists Block Builders and digital architecture and urban regeneration pioneers invite you to rebuild your local environment up close using Minecraft and Oculus Rift Virtual Reality digital technology, how awesome is this?
Dream Cities need populating, but how will we exist in the future; are you a future humanoid, digital citizen or a replicant? Is everything and everybody replaceable?
These questions explore humanities digital evolution.
We now invite you to explore your identity through natural and synthetic material authenticity by experiencing human 3D scanning and 3D printing workshops;
FREE: DROP IN WORKSHOP: Local Brighton Fusebox artists in residence 3Dify will help you create your own 3D mini-me digital avatar. It’s your chance to get yourself 3D scanned, and if you’re lucky you might even get to take home your own 3D printed mini-me!!: )
Are you interested in genetic mutations? Exploring Senses artists will help you make your own personalised humanoid 3D scanned and printed hybrid Toy Hack mutant creation. We will be 3D scanning and 3D printing your humanoid limbs, then you will have the chance to embody your body parts into freaky Toy Hacks. This is the dawn of the new 3D printed Toy Hack revolution, get involved, and get mutated!

Exploring Senses artists will be showcasing ‘Aurasma’ augmented reality experiences generated by local young people working in partnership with Blockbuilders and Pinkyvision. This is your chance to play, see how exciting 2D images can come to life, by using embedded augmented reality digital technology.
As darkness falls, live digital interactive projections will come to life courtesy of digital artist/technologist Louis d ‘Aboville.

The Young Inventors Centre is a two-year educational maker space project for young people funded by The People’s Health Trust, managed and run by Exploring Senses artists, and collaborating local artists, technologists, inventors, makers, tinkers, and educators. The YIC is a safe place that young people can visit to learn how to use the latest digital technologies, experiment with low and high tech ideas, start projects with friends & possibly kick-start a future career! Also at the YIC it is possible to achieve Arts Awards Accreditation.
