CityCamp is global network of events, communities and projects that works to create amazing social projects to better the cities we live in. We have been running the Brighton event for over three years now and it is pretty awesome.
What are doing?!
CityCamp 3.5 will be celebrating where our online and offline communities meet and what we can do to bring them closer together to encourage more engagement and collaboration between the two.
We will be hosting a wide range of workshops stretching from live cooking workshops and sharing recipes on Facebook and Twitter, to live webcasting your views on what should be happening within your local government! We will also be demonstrating the resilient offline-internet technology ‘Communifi’ which evolved from a pitch at the City Camp 2.5 inviting ideas for resilient Community run wifi.
We have chosen ‘The Dream Factory’ as our venue as it is an evolution of the ‘Citizens Hub’ project that came out of our CityCamp 2 conference!
What is CityCamp Brighton?!
CityCamp Brighton started in 2011 and has now hosted three annual conferences. Our most recent event, CityCamp 3 was hosted in March this year across various venues in Brighton over three days. Every CityCamp conference produces a number of participant lead projects to improve Brighton as City and this year was no different. The winning project was ‘Citizens Agenda’- a platform for developing more democratic and publically lead Council meetings. Other projects included a healthy, affordable food box scheme that help people’s families develop cooking skills, Raspberry-pi workshops for kids and an online tool for collecting and aggregating Counsellor tweets!
For Brighton Digital Festival, we will be hosting the CityCamp 3.5 event, which will act as an interactive exhibition space for all of the amazing projects that have come from CityCamp so far. We’ll also give you a teaser of next spring’s CityCamp 4 and let you know how you can get involved – and why you should
