Doc Ready is a website that is aiming to help young people get the most out of their GP appointments when it comes to dealing with a mental health issue. By preparing young people with an agenda, details about their appointment, and information about what to expect from a GP visit, we can help both the patients and the doctors get the most out of the limited resources and time that they have to share.
Doc Ready started life over 18 months ago, as an idea generated from the Innovation Labs (http://www.innovationlabs.org.uk) – a partnership programme involving Comic Relief, Nominet Trust, the Mental Health Foundation, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and Right Here. Innovation Labs’ mission is simple – to improve young people’s mental health through digital media.
Doc Ready received funding, and is now being developed and delivered by Enabled by Design, FutureGov, Neon Tribe, and Social Spider, with added support from Right Here Brighton and Hove. Through a rigorous development process involving young people at every step of the journey to offer feedback and evaluation, Doc Ready has developed from an idea into a fully-fledged and functioning tool, accessible by anyone on the web.
We are now proud to announce that we will be launching Doc Ready in early September, and would love to invite everyone to take part in our launch event. We will be talking about our product, how it developed, and there’ll be the opportunity to try the finished website out yourself as it goes live.
For anyone interested in mental health, or how digital apps and tools can solve problems in the health system, this event will be unmissable. We’d particular like to see you there if you’re a young person (16-25) who this tool is aimed at, if you work within the mental health system, you’re a GP or NHS health practitioner, or a member of the press who’d like to report on our product and the event.
