Do you know or have a daughter, niece or grand-daughter aged 11-13 years? Would she like to learn the secrets behind how her favourite websites, apps, animations, games and more are made – all using code?
Computing touches every part of our world — and no matter what she wants to be when she grows up, technology can help her get there.
For students today, computing is an essential skill. The new Computing curriculum comes into effect this September and for the first time children from 5yrs+ will be learning Computing. Learning to code can open up countless opportunities. Whatever her passions, learning tech skills can help her pursue her interests now and create greater career options and job security for her future.

American Express and Albion in the Community have arranged a day of activities to help you help her. Come and explore new technology together—what it is, why it matters, and what girls can do with it. In a series of fun and creative projects, we’ll explain key language and concepts in the new curriculum giving you the skills to support your girls. It’s an interactive session where you will learn all about coding through doing and having fun.
The goal is to spark girls’ curiosity and encourage them to explore the countless possibilities of what they can do with code.
No matter what your background is, as parents, carers, advisors, and role models, we all have a huge role to play in helping to make technology relevant and exciting for girls.
The event takes place on Saturday 13 September 2014, 10am – 4pm in the West Stand at the American Express Community Stadium. Ticketed admission. Please bring a packed lunch.
