Become a musician for one night with Laser Light Synths – the music and light show that you control!

This new interactive musical extravaganza, taking place on 6th September at 8pm, will turn passers by into musicians and New Road’s Unitarian Church into a laser light spectacular.

Laser Light Synths is the latest project from Seb Lee-Delisle, the local award-winning digital artist who drew crowds to Brighton last Autumn with his PixelPyros digital fireworks display. His latest creation gives you the chance to become musicians using bespoke touch-activated musical instruments filled with hundreds of high power LED lights. As you play, the sounds trigger a laser light spectacle, running up the columns of the Unitarian Church.

Seb says: “I think everyone dreams of being in a band, and I want to give everyone the chance to experience what that’s like. Anyone can be part of the performance and I’ve designed the Light Synths to be easy to play but genuinely expressive musical instruments.”

Lee-Delisle opened the 2012 Brighton Digital Festival with PixelPyros, a virtual pyrotechnics display projected onto a massive 60-foot wide screen, and last year he was awarded Arts Council funding to take it on a nationwide tour.

“Just like PixelPyros, Laser Light Synths will be nothing without the participation of the public,” Seb continues. “For me, this is all about my passion for taking computer technology into the open air for everyone to enjoy.”

During the Laser Light Synths experience, whilst some participants play the instrument, others can enjoy a unique sound-activated laser light show, mapped onto the neo-classical facade of the Unitarian Church. “I learned how to use lasers in PixelPyros and now I use them whenever I get the chance! We’ll be bringing the most powerful lasers I can get my hands on.”

The show starts runs between 8pm and 10pm on New Road at the Unitarian Church and is free to attend. Get there early to avoid the queues.
