An evening of animations, live illustrations, short films and readings from the Quick Fictions app, where every story is under 300 words.

We’ve been working with animators from the University of Brighton to add a stonking visual component to stories inhabited by lost ears, lost fingers, lost words, hamsters and romance novelists. Authors include Adam Roberts, Scarlett Thomas and Man Booker shortlistee, Alison Moore.

Quick Fictions is the brainchild of Professor Nicholas Royle. It grew out of his interest in experimental projects and new kinds of writing. In particular, he wanted to explore the question of how to write – inventively, thoughtfully, memorably – in the age of the short attention span.

We’d love to read your shortest literary work. Follow the instructions in the app to submit it.
